Red Wall with Boot

It’s November and this year has been a roller coaster ride full of tension, turmoil and the unfolding of secrets. From politics to human right issues our world has been flayed open in a way that has left us bruised, but also better educated to the abuses of power.

It’s been tough to witness these abuses and I have found myself at times feeling short of breath, with my mind racing to a point of paralysis. What has been a comfort is know how many other people share those feelings. It’s also been inspiring to witness how many people have found ways to move past the paralysis and become activists against the abuse of power worldwide.

My newest abstract work “Red Wall with Boot” is my stylistic representation of power left unchecked.  I needed a personal way to make sense of what we are living through and this work has helped me do that.

I find myself inspirited that the actions of so many people will prevail over the ugliness we are witnessing. And I remember that Zen is the path that emphasizes enlightenment and no one ever said it would be easy.

The quote
“Even the wise become as the unwise in the enchanted chambers of Power, whose lamps make every face of the same color.”
WALTER SAVAGE LANDOR, “Imaginary Conversations” was my inspiration for this work.

Wishing you Zen … ART
