A Holiday to Celebrate Everyday

Last Saturday was NATIONAL GIVE SOMETHING AWAY DAY…

I stumbled on it while searching the web for something else and it resonated with me.

It reminded me that some of us have the benefit of having more than we need to live. National Give Something Away Day on July 15 is an opportunity to share some of our bounty. It’s a pay it forward kind of day. I love this way of sharing goodness.

Did you miss the actual day…? No worries I’m thinking this is a holiday we can do every day.  Donate to a food bank, give your time volunteering occasionally, or paying for someone who came up short at the check-out. Use your ingenuity there is a ton of things we can do that allow us to share our good fortune. We can also share happiness and kindness everyday by simply putting a smile on our face when we go out into the world.

This also got me thinking about why my Zen art is important to me. As an artist, I’ve made the decision to create this kind of art because it speaks to me on a very personal level.

The action of creating it brings me happiness as well as contentment.  It allows me to step into a world of tranquility and with so much turmoil going on in the world it’s a place where I can catch my breath and imagine a better world.

The first act of achieving any goal is to imagine it, the second action is to create and put it into the world. That’s why it feels right to share my art. I want to help spread those feelings of peace, happiness and love.  Big goal, big return.
